Three teenagers — ages 16 and 17 — suspected of stealing a car at gunpoint in Vancouver were arrested early Saturday morning in downtown Portland.
Portland police responded to reports of a stolen car near Southwest 5th Avenue and Hall Street at 1:12 a.m. Officers spotted three people running from the stolen car and told them to stop. They didn’t.
The 16-year-old tripped while running and a gun fell out of his pocket, police said. He was taken into custody, and the other two were caught a few blocks away.
All three were booked into Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Facility on allegations of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possessing a stolen vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, interfering with police and attempting to elude police.
The 16-year-old suspect also faces charges for possessing a firearm.
