The New York Police Department began setting up steel barricades outside Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday amid reports that former President Donald Trump may be arrested on Tuesday.
“Steel barricades arriving outside Manhattan Criminal Court @CBSNews,” CBS News correspondent Robert Costa tweeted, along with video of the scene.
Citizen Free Press also tweeted a video of the NYPD at work outside Manhattan Criminal Court.
On Saturday, Trump – who is widely considered President Joe Biden’s top competitor in the 2024 presidential race – wrote on Truth Social that “illegal leaks” from “corrupt and highly political” officials in New York indicated that he would be arrested on Tuesday.

Also on Saturday, Trump issued a warning about the general condition of the United States, posting on Truth Social:

The rumored arrest stems from an investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose probe sought to determine whether the former president and his company violated any laws by reportedly paying adult film star Stormy Daniels hush money over an alleged affair in 2006.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, another potential 2024 presidential candidate, responded to the arrest reports on Monday.
“I’ve seen rumors swirl,” DeSantis said. “I have not seen any facts yet, and so I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I do know this: The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor and so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.”
