On Friday, former President Donald Trump asserted that “potential death & destruction” could occur if he is charged over alleged hush-money paid to hide suspected affairs.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote:
What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely hates the USA!
The post comes after reports that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is planning to criminally prosecute Trump for his alleged 2016 attempts to buy the silence of two women – including adult film star Stormy Daniels – who said they had sex with him, which he denies.
The Manhattan grand jury considering whether to indict Trump will not move forward with the case until next week, ABC News reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

On Saturday, Trump – who is widely considered President Joe Biden’s top competitor in the 2024 presidential race – wrote on Truth Social that “illegal leaks” from “corrupt and highly political” officials in New York indicated that he would be arrested.
Also on Saturday, Trump issued a warning about the general condition of the United States, posting on Truth Social:
