A police officer exchanged gunfire with a man Thursday night in West Philadelphia, and the shooting suspect was apprehended a short time later, police said.
No injuries were reported.
The confrontation occurred around 7:40 p.m. in the area of 55th and Summer Streets.
Police said they were conducting a traffic stop of a Chevrolet Tahoe when someone from the vehicle shot at police. An officer returned fire with one shot.
The suspected shooter ran from the vehicle but was apprehended a short time later, police said. The Tahoe was driven away but crashed nearby into another car, and two people ran from the fleeing SUV but were later taken into custody.
A gun was found on the 5400 block of Summer Street and another suspect — possibly the fourth person in the Tahoe — was being sought, police said.
