CNN anchor Kasie Hunt only spent a total of 13 minutes in labor before giving birth to her second child on the bathroom floor in her home. Hunt and her husband Matthew Mario Rivera welcomed their second child, who weighed approximately 8 pounds, 4 ounces, on Wednesday, March 1.

“We are thrilled to announce the birth of our baby girl, Grey Hunt Rivera. Proud big brother [Mars Hunt] can’t stop talking about his new baby sister,” the couple told People.

“Grey is already showing us her independent streak,” the couple added, noting the unusual circumstances surrounding the birth. “We were expecting her to arrive via a scheduled C-section on Thursday morning. She had other plans!”

According to Daily News, the couple said they have time to call the paramedics before Hunt went into labor.

“Dad sprang into action and delivered baby Grey on the bathroom floor,” they said.

“We are so grateful to the 911 operators and the DC Fire & EMS team. Step-by-step, they talked us through the incredibly intense moments right after she was born and as she took her first breaths,” the pair added. “Thank you to the firefighters and paramedics on the scene who treated mom and baby at home and then brought us safely to Sibley Hospital in Washington. It’s a day we’ll never forget!”

Hunt shared photos of the scene on Twitter, showing their gratitude for the first responders once again.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded to Hunt’s tweet, writing “Congratulations, and we are proud to have played a role in bringing this beautiful child into the [world]. It’s what we train for.”
