A guard shot a person Monday morning at Fort Riley after the person drove a vehicle through a gate at the installation.

Fort Riley Military Police received a call at 6:50 a.m. about an incident at Trooper Gate, the southwestern entrance through Junction City.

According to officials, the person drove through the gate and was stopped by the automatic vehicle barrier. Officials said the situation “escalated” after the person exited the vehicle, and a guard ultimately shot the person.

The driver of the vehicle was receiving medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries as of Monday afternoon.

Army officials said Monday afternoon they wouldn’t release any further information at the moment because the incident is still under investigation.
