Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Wednesday met with Iraqi Minister of Defence Thabet Al Abbasi, and his accompanying delegation, over the future of military cooperation between the two countries’ armies. Huneiti and Abbasi also discussed the latest regional and international developments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The army chief said that the Jordanian-Iraqi relations represent a “model” for addressing various challenges and difficulties, adding that cooperation with the Iraqi armed forces continues in all military fields.
Abbasi stressed the “deep-rooted” relations between the two countries, commending the pivotal role of the Kingdom in fighting terrorism and extremism, and instilling security and stability in the region. Huneiti and the delegation listened to various military briefings on the proposed areas of cooperation between the two countries, in line with the nature of regional developments.
