Whoopi Goldberg blasted Republican lawmakers for yelling during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Wednesday, calling it “despicable” and arguing they owe him “respect.”
Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” said that GOP lawmakers who interrupted Biden’s State of the Union address were “despicable,” Breitbart reported.
Goldberg said it “bothers” her that the hecklers were “indulging in despicable behavior.”
“You don’t have to like what he says. But you owe him the respect. He is the president. For God’s sake, we had to listen to you-know-who, and nobody yelled,” Goldberg continued. “Nobody said you’re a liar. You’re a moron.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin noted that Biden is not the only president to be heckled during his State of the Union.
“Remember it was Joe Wilson who yelled at Obama, ‘You lie.’ That lack of decorum had never been shown before,” Hostin said. “They made him apologize to the White House, and he did so.”
“I think if Marjorie Taylor Greene yelled ‘liar’ at the president of the United States, she should apologize for it,” she added. “I wonder if Kevin McCarthy has the cajones to force her.”

Goldberg also acknowledged that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tore up then-President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address as an act of defiance.
Joy Behar, another co-host of the show, argued that tearing up Trump’s speech was a “very subtle” way of showing her disapproval.
“Yelling out is so junior high,” Behar added.
