Russia’s Defense Ministry said on February 23 that a Su-25 military plane crashed in the Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, adding that the aircraft’s pilot managed to eject from the cockpit but died of injuries sustained in the accident. According to the ministry, the plane was “returning to its base ” and crashed due to an unspecified “technical malfunction.” There were no other casualties, the ministry said.
