A recently married Texas man has confessed to brutally murdering his wife by means of decapitation.

Jared Dicus, 21, is believed to have murdered his wife Anggy Diaz, also 21, at their home in Waller County, Texas on Jan. 11.

The couple’s home was on the same lot as a home owned by his parents. Waller County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a deceased woman at around 4:18 p.m. that evening, Sheriff Troy Guidry said in a press conference the following day.

Guidry said that at some point after the murder, the suspect walked over to his parents house and they asked where his wife was. The parents then walked to the other property and found the victim and called police.

“At this stage we do have a confession but it is still under further investigation,” Guidry said on Jan. 12. “He didn’t say anything to us on scene we brought him back for his witness statement and that’s when he confessed to it.”

Guidry did not immediately identify Dicus as the suspect who gave the confession, but he was subsequently identified after being charged with the murder.

According to court documents obtained by KRIV, Diaz’s body was found in a pool of blood near the bed, while her head was found in a shower in the home.

Investigators believe Dicus used a kitchen knife to decapitate Diaz.

Surveillance camera footage recovered from a nearby store showed Dicus take a beer from a fridge and walk out without paying. That footage was taken minutes after when investigators believe Dicus killed Diaz.

Dicus and Diaz had been married in October 2022. The two had met at her job.

At the time of the killing, Dicus had been out on bond after being charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) in November, KHOU reported.

Some of Diaz’s friends told KHOU that they could tell something had changed after the wedding, but were shocked by what had taken place.
