Details about the U.S. military’s training on gender and racial sensitivity have been revealed by the Wall Street Journal as politicians increasingly target the military’s turn to so-called “woke” ideology.

The newly disclosed training materials detail how many often-cited tenets of “woke” ideology are being transmitted to government employees, particularly in the Defense Department.

Among the materials is the “Genderbread Person,” a cartoon gingerbread man the Department of Veteran Affairs used to teach about gender fluidity. It was included in a 175-slide training regimen that also had an exercise for employees to measure their “privilege.”

The VA also listed 10 ways that “coming out” could benefit transgender employees, including “becoming a role model for others” and “being more productive at work.” Non-transgender employees were advised to “relax about the bathroom” and “do research on your own” when a colleague announces they’re transgender.

At the end of the training session, a quiz asked participants whether they can define 22 terms, including “hir,” “sie or ze,” and “two spirit people.”

In the Army, a series of hypothetical scenarios involving transgender troops teaches how to respond when a service member wants “to discuss his newly confirmed pregnancy.”

Another scenario describes a soldier who underwent a male-to-female transition but retained male genitals raising concerns about privacy in the open shower area. Their female counterparts also are uncomfortable with the soldier’s male genitals.

The scenario lists several “reasonable accommodations” the transgender soldier can take advantage of, including installing curtains, while the others “must accept” having “little or no privacy.”

While not part of the Defense Department, NASA disclosed a training slide warning that statements like “America is a melting pot” and “There is only one race, the human race” are “microaggressions.”

The documents largely lack context making it clear when and how many times the training occurred, and whether participation in it was voluntary.
