Legendary Chicago Bears NFL linebacker Brian Urlacher recently made headlines after blasting the Biden administration’s handling and misreporting of the ongoing U.S.-Mexico border crisis.
Urlacher commented during an appearance on Newsmax, “You know that you see some things on TV from the administration saying that people aren’t just walking across. No, they are just walking across, they’re just literally getting dropped off a hundred feet from the border, at least the Yuma sector, and they’re walking across, and then they get arrested, you know, they get processed.”
The Hall of Fame linebacker’s comments came in the wake of a heated exchange between White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and Fox News Reporter Peter Doocy in relation to the ongoing border crisis. During an August 29 White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre adamantly claimed, “it’s not like somebody walks over.” This claim has been met with intense criticism and scrutiny.
Urlacher himself recently visited Border Patrol agents in Yuma, Arizona, along with former NFL players Nick Lowery and Randy Grimes in December. Urlacher claimed to have wanted to see the border himself and show support for Border Patrol agents. The Hall of Famer expressed amazement at “how easy it was to get across.”

“We actually were on the Colorado River in a boat and saw six guys just kinda walk across into the United States right there in the middle of the day like it was nothing, they walk up, they get arrested, they get processed, they get released in two days. That’s the process of getting into the United States,” Urlacher added.
The Biden Administration has come under intense pressure for its mishandling and incompetence in solving the ongoing and historic border crisis.
According to Fox News, a Customs and Border Protection source told Fox News, “U.S. officials are aware of at least 599,000 migrants who crossed the southern border and evaded authorities in Fiscal Year 2022.”
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) FY 22 Annual Report showed the agency spent $324 million on dental, mental health, and medical services for those detained by the agency. The agency also reported having conducted the removal of 2,667 “known or suspected gang members” and 55 “known or suspected terrorists” during the fiscal year 2022.
Urlacher highlighted his gratitude, stating, “That’s why we went down there the first time as well, to meet them and spend some time with them, but just trying to show that we do support them and they’re not on their own.”
