Annie Wersching, whose two-decade acting career included a prominent role on the action series “24,” died Sunday after a battle with cancer, her representative said.

Wersching, who was 45, was diagnosed with an unspecified form of the disease in 2020, according to an online fund-raiser set up to support her family.

The St. Louis-born Wersching had a main role as the FBI special agent Renee Walker on the seventh and eighth seasons of “24,” which starred Kiefer Sutherland as a Los Angeles counterterrorism agent.

Wersching also voiced a key character, Tess, in PlayStation’s popular apocalyptic video game “The Last of Us,” which was adapted to a live-action series that premiered on HBO this month.

“Just found out my dear friend, Annie Wersching, passed away,” tweeted Neil Druckmann, who created “The Last of Us” game. “We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Thoughts are with her loved ones.”

Wersching got her start as an actress during the early 2000s with appearances on series such as “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Frasier,” “Angel” and “Charmed.”

She later had a recurring role on the soap opera “General Hospital” before starring on the police procedural drama “Bosch” and the Marvel-inspired series “Runaways.”

Her final credits came last year on episodes of “Star Trek: Picard” and “The Rookie.”

Wersching is survived by her husband, Steve, and three sons ages 4, 9 and 12. The GoFundMe page received more than $50,000 in donations less than four hours after it launched.

“Annie lived for her family. She loved her work and cherished her friends, but Steve and the boys were her absolute everything,” reads the fund-raiser’s description.

“Everyone loved Annie. Everyone. But however, much we loved her, she loved her boys more. Let’s help take care of them for her.”
