The CIA is chasing Jack Ryan as he goes rogue against a plot to restore the Soviet Union in Prime Video’s first trailer for the third season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” starring actor John Krasinski.
As a small group of Russians prepare a nuclear strike that will give them their moment to seize power, “every second matters,” Ryan’s CIA ally James Greer (Wendell Pierce) tells him in the trailer.
In what looks like a European street scene, another of Ryan’s friends in the agency, Mike November (Michael Kelly), tells Ryan, “You’re about to cross a line, and there may be no going back.”
“Because I’m trying to do the right thing,” responds Ryan.
Between globetrotting shots of firefights, chases and flying missiles, characters demand Ryan be put “in custody immediately” and say “we have to eliminate” him.
All eight episodes in the third season of Prime Video’s take on author Tom Clancy’s “Ryanverse” will drop on the streaming service Dec. 21.
New actors in the cast will include Nina Hoss as the Czech president and Betty Gabriel as the chief of the CIA’s Rome Station, according to Variety.
The show has already been renewed for a fourth season with a cast set to include Michael Peña, known for his film roles in “Ant-Man” and “End of Watch,” in an undisclosed role, Variety reported.
Ryan is the protagonist of an acclaimed series of Clancy thriller novels that was adapted into five films over three decades.
Prime Video’s series has featured original, modern-day stories since debuting in 2018, with Ryan thwarting a rising terrorist threat in the first season and a conspiracy by the president of Venezuela in the second.
