A major in the U.S. Army Reserves and New York congressional candidate released a sex tape just weeks before the midterm elections in an effort to “demonstrate [his] commitment” to a “sex positive” domestic policy, including decriminalizing and legalizing sex work.
In an interview with City & State, Mike Itkis said he posted the pornographic video to a porn website, asserting that the sex tape is a “conversation piece.” Itkis is running in New York’s 12th district against longtime incumbent Rep. Jerry Nadler.
Barstool Sports shared a screenshot from the sex tape on Twitter, writing, “Congressional Candidate Mike Itkis Just Announced His Political Race By Releasing A Full Blown Sex Tape With Porn Star Nicole Sage.”
According to Itkis’ campaign website, one of his top issues is “sexual rights,” including:
- Decriminalize sex between consenting adults
- Protect privacy rights
- Define consent
- End adultery laws
- Decriminalize and legalize sex work
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue. And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform,” Itkis said.
“I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the center of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important… I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way,” he added.
The Army Reserves major describes himself as “Not married. No kids. Not celibate. Atheist,” on his website.
