New video shows the moment a Ukrainian drone drops a bomb into the open hatch of a Russian tank.
The YouTube video, posted by The Sun, shows a birds-eye view of the attack. The Ukrainian drone briefly hovers over the Russian tank before dropping two bombs, the first of which is seen going straight into the narrow hatch.
On Thursday, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense tweeted video of Ukrainian troops dancing amid artillery fire.
“No one loves their work as much as our artillery. As romantic as they are, they rejoice at every shot they fire! Because with every shot there are fewer and fewer enemies on our land,” the ministry tweeted. “This is why our heroes are getting happier and happier!”
The video comes after the BBC reported Ukrainian forces appear to have retaken over 1,000 square miles of territory that Russian forces had captured after invading in February.
Ukrainian forces had begun to regain miles of territory in a recent offensive, but may have tripled the size of Ukraine’s recaptured territory in just over 48 hours.
On Monday, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense tweeted, “It is official: Vysokopillya, Novovoznesenske, Bilohirka, Myrolyubivka and Sukhyj Stavok have been liberated. The occupiers are preparing to ‘regroup’ in the Kherson region as well. As in Kharkiv, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are helping them with this.”
Amid Russia’s rapid loss of territory in Ukraine, reports have begun to circulate of Ukrainian forces calling on Russian troops to surrender.
Photos shared on social media showed surrender cards that Ukrainian troops are reportedly distributing.
One card reads: “Your ticket to peace. Show this card to a Ukrainian soldier – it will save your life and help you get home.” On the back, the card reads “for detailed instructions” with a pair of scannable QR codes, a Telegram chatbot and a phone number that people can contact.
