Texas is accepting public donations to fund Gov. Greg Abbott’s efforts to send buses filled with illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C., according to an announcement on the governor’s website.
“In the wake of President Biden’s decision to end Title 42 expulsions, Governor Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to charter buses to transport migrants to Washington, D.C. You can donate online now by credit card* or donate by mail by sending a check to the address below,” the website states.

The posting notes that unused border transportation funding will be applied to Texas border wall funding.
According to the Washington Examiner, the State of Texas has collected $118,297 as of July 22, but the donations were dwarfed by the hefty $7 million bills the state received from busing and security contractors in July.
Prior to being transported by bus to Washington D.C. or New York City, illegal immigrants must sign a consent form, which Texas is providing them in both English and Spanish.
The consent form describes Washington, D.C. as “the capital of the United States” where “members of Congress and the President of the United States are more immediately able to help address the needs of migrants who have entered the country.”
The document also states that New York City has been “designated as a sanctuary city by its City Council, and is providing shelter and food to migrants who have entered the country.”
Officials in both Washington D.C. and New York City have complained about the illegal immigrants being bussed from Texas to their cities. Washington, D.C.’s Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser even admitted that the capital city is overwhelmed by the influx of illegal immigrants.
By August 1, over 6,000 illegal immigrants have taken part in the bussing effort. The small number of illegal immigrants that are causing a “humanitarian crisis” in Democrat-run cities is just a drop in the bucket – small border towns have been overrun by more than 1.7 million illegal immigrants who have already crossed the border this year.
In April, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott vowed to keep busing illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C.
“If Biden will not come to the border, we’re sending the border to Biden and his administration so that they can begin to grapple with the challenges that we’re dealing with,” Abbott said, adding, “But also, we will be looking for other locations like Delaware, Biden’s home state. … The people in Delaware are going to see what the people in Texas are having to grapple with.”
