Just before 1 p.m. EST, police received a call of a shooting at O Street northwest with numerous victims. Officers arrived on scene to find five victims, all of which were black males. Two of the victims died on scene, and three victims went to local hospitals for treatment.
Executive Assistant Chief Benedict said witnesses observed a small black SUV traveling southbound on Capitol Street make a right turn on O Street. The vehicle stopped and two male suspects exited with “semi-automatic pistols or rifles” and began shooting at the victims who were standing or sitting outside the senior citizens home.
The two suspects returned to the vehicle, which continued traveling down O Street.
Benedict said the shooting might be drug related, lamenting that drugs are “a constant problem” in the city.
The DC Police Department released a photo of the suspects’ vehicle and asked the public for assistance in finding any information related to the shooting.
