A Colonie soldier made a terroristic threat while at the Latham Army National Guard base, New York State Police said.

He’s also accused of illegally possessing an assault rifle at his residence, state police said.

Thomas Greene, 20, of Colonie, was charged Saturday with one count each of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and making a terroristic threat, felonies, state police said.

Troopers started investigating Saturday afternoon after a concerned soldier from the Army National Guard base in Latham contacted them. An investigation then determined Greene made a terroristic threat while on base. A release did not identify Greene’s connection to the base, but a spokeswoman later confirmed Greene was a soldier.

A search of Greene’s residence then uncovered an illegally possessed assault rifle, a shotgun, and five large-capacity ammunition feeding devices, police said.

Greene was also found in violation of an active order of protection barring him from legally possessing a firearm, police said.

Greene was processed and turned over to the Albany County Correctional Facility pending arraignment.
