A Florida man faces two years in jail after pleading guilty to beating his wife.

The judge accepted Kirk Douglas Dudley’s plea Tuesday morning, the Department of Justice reported. Officials charged him with two counts of assault concerning the two beatings he committed against his wife.

On Jan. 26, Dudley, of Maryland, was living at Tampa’s MacDill Air Force Base with his wife when he repeatedly slapped her and knocked her to the ground, the DOJ reported. After knocking her to the ground, he sat on her, stuffed a rag in her mouth, and tried to stop her from breathing.

A second assault happened on Jan. 31. During this assault, a juvenile watched as Dudley slapped his wife and repeatedly slammed her head into various surfaces, the DOJ reported.

Dudley hasn’t yet received a sentencing date for his plea.
