During a rally in Anchorage, Alaska over the weekend, former President Donald Trump called billionaire tech CEO Elon Musk a “bullsh-t artist” for allegedly lying about voting for him, but Musk said Trump’s claims were “not true.”

“Elon is not going to buy Twitter. Where did you hear that before? From me. He’s got himself a mess. You know what he said the other day? He said, ‘Oh, I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said, I didn’t know that, he told me he voted for me. So he’s another bullsh-t artist, but he’s not going to be buying [Twitter],” Trump said at his rally.

“Not true,” Musk responded via Twitter on Monday night.

On another Twitter thread, Musk said that he doesn’t “hate” Trump, but argued that it’s time for Trump to “hang up his hat.”

“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset. Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency,” Musk wrote on Twitter.

Talk show host Joe Pags Pagliarulo challenged Musk’s assertion that Trump’s political career is over.

“Your response makes no sense,” he tweeted. “What about his presidency did you have a problem with: Energy Independence, Lower Regulations, Lower Taxes, ISIS Obliterated, XL Pipeline Being Constructed, Russian Pipeline Stopped, Border Under Control. What — on policy — did you have an issue with?”

Musk appeared to agree that former President Trump’s policies were solid, but argued they came with “too much drama.”

“Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!?” Musk replied. “Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69.”

Musician Adam Irvin joined the discussion, tweeting that he was surprised by Musk’s comments.

“I say Trump/DeSantis 2024 DeSantis 2028/32,” Irvin wrote.

Musk tripled down on his assertion that Trump’s time as a leader in politics is over, due in large part to his age, but argued Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would “easily win” against Biden in 2024.

“Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America,” Musk tweeted. “If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign.”

Trump has not officially announced that he is running for president again in 2024.
