Gunman shoots, robs security guard, then witnesses rob him again

Surveillance video of an armed gunman fatally shooting Anthony Frazier in Atlanta (Atlanta Police Department/Released)
April 21, 2022

Surveillance video shows the moment a gunman fatally shot a security guard in the back of the head before robbing him outside a restaurant in southwest Atlanta on Monday. Multiple witnesses to the brazen attack in broad daylight did not try to help the victim, and at least one witness robbed the victim as he was lying on the sidewalk bleeding.

Anthony Frazier, 51, was attacked just before 7 p.m. while he was exiting a black GMC parked near the American Wings and Seafood restaurant at 387 Cleveland Ave. SW, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

ATL Uncensored posted the surveillance footage on Twitter.

An armed suspect was wearing all black, including a face mask, when he quickly approached Frazier from behind while pulling a gun from his right pocket.

The surveillance video released by police does not include the actual shooting, but police said Frazier was shot point-blank in the head. The suspect, who was carrying a camouflage backpack, then rummages around in the victim’s belongings, apparently taking something from Frazier while he lies on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound in his head.

After the gunman takes off, a man who was sitting on the curb in the background throughout the shooting stands up and slowly walks by Frazier, shaking his head. The witness did not stop to check on Frazier.

After a moment, two more men find Frazier lying on the sidewalk and proceed to rob him. A woman joins the pair and they eventually leave the scene together.

Customers were shocked to find out Frazier had been shot.

“So attentive, he always watched the door. Why would somebody do that to him?” customer Kam Kae asked WSB-TV.

“For the most part, they’re very wholesome people, the owners themselves. Usually, they’re always on point, very attentive with orders. I know that they hire security just for their safety as well as the customers’ safety. He was a good guy,” she continued. “He sits in that back booth every single day. He doesn’t bother nobody.”

“I really can’t put together why they would do that to them,” she added. “That doesn’t even make sense.”

The Atlanta Police Department said emergency personnel arrived moments after every witness had already left. Frazier was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the armed robber. Anyone with information should call the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
