American Airlines is investigating a pilot whose luggage had a tag emblazoned with the words “Let’s Go Brandon,” a popular anti-President Joe Biden euphemism meaning “F—k Joe Biden.”
Twitter user Dana Finley Morrison, who describes herself as a fraternity and sorority professional who is “passionate about reality TV, feminism and doing the right thing,” posted a photo of the luggage tag and tweeted at American Airlines, asking if they accept “cowardly rhetoric on their crew luggage when they’re in uniform.”
“Hey [American Airlines] ya’ll cool with your pilots displaying this kind of cowardly rhetoric on their crew luggage while they’re in uniform, about to fly to a plane?” wrote Morrison, who recently made her Twitter account private. “We are not the only passengers who noticed and were disgusted. Today in UVF about to board to Miami.”
After the tweet went viral, the official Twitter account of the airline responded to Morrison, writing, “Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we want to get this to the right team. Please DM any additional details.”
Morrison later tweeted that she exchanged direct messages with an airline representative who assured her that the proper authorities are reviewing her complaints.
“We take this very seriously and have sent this over to crew leadership,” AA said in a direct message to Morrison, according to the New York Post. “They will handle this internally after review. We assure you appropriate internal review will occur.”
Morrison faced intense backlash for the tweet, with many referring to her as a “Karen,” a slang term for uptight, self-righteous women.
“This pilot deserves a raise for dealing with entitled Karens while doing his job,” tweeted Christina Pushaw, Gov. Ron DeSantis press secretary.
“Hope he and everyone else gets a raise for having to deal with Karen passengers such as this one,” wrote Mollie Hemingway, senior editor for The Federalist.
This isn’t the first time a pilot has made headlines for expressing frustration with Biden. In November, a Southwest Airlines pilot reportedly said “Let’s go Brandon” over the plane’s intercom.
The unidentified pilot ended his announcement with the phrase during a flight from Houston, Texas, to Albuquerque, New Mexico. What appears to be the end of the pilot’s announcement was captured on video and shared on social media.
According to The Associated Press, there were audible gasps from some of the passengers after hearing the announcement.
