A 91-year-old was found dead under his tractor by police after his wife noticed him trapped under the vehicle on Dec. 14.

Police responded to a call in Norman Park, Georgia, for a man trapped under a tractor, according to an incident report from Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office. When officers arrived, they found Colin White pinned under the right rear tire of his tractor and pronounced him dead on scene.

“It looked like Mr. Colin was trying to crank his tractor while it was in gear and when it turned over and started, it actually pinned him against something and ran over him,” Capt. Mike Murfin told McClatchy News. “It was just one of those accidents that happened like that.”

White’s wife, Ilene White, told police that he had planned to get the tractor to mow the leaves. When she did not see White on the tractor soon after, she went outside to look for him and found White pinned under the machine while it was running and called 911.

Both the sheriff’s office and an EMT Unit responded to the home. The incident report described White’s body being distorted when officers found him after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

According to Murfin, there is no suspicion of foul play and the incident is expected to be ruled as accidental by the local coroner.

According to White’s obituary, he was born in Soperton, Georgia, and retired from Civil Service as a mechanic. He had previously served in the United States Army and was a member of the Weeks Chapel United Methodist Church, where his graveside service will be held.

Norman Park is in southern Georgia, about 120 miles south of Macon.
