An NYPD officer thought she was heading to the top cop’s office to receive an award last week, but she left with something else entirely: A diamond ring and a loving embrace.
The officer, identified only as Shaundel in a tweet from NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, was expecting a pair of cufflinks from her boss but instead appears shocked when she’s handed a box containing an engagement ring.
Right after, she turns around to see her boyfriend, Henry, on one knee. The retired sergeant then embraces Shaundel as applause rings out and Shea exclaims: “Hold on, we need an answer!”
The next shot in the video shows Henry putting the ring on Shaundel’s finger.
“When you think you’re going to the PC’s office to receive an award, but you leave with a diamond ring & calling your retired-sergeant-boyfriend — your ‘fiancée!'” Shea wrote in a tweet. “She said Yes!”
