Remington, the nation’s oldest firearms maker, announced Monday that it is moving its global headquarters to LaGrange, Georgia.

The company also plans to open a new advanced manufacturing facility as well as a research and development center in the city. Through the projects, the gunmaker is expected to invest an estimated $100 million and create 856 jobs in Troup County over a five-year period. Several of the company’s strategic products will be manufactured in Georgia, according to a news release from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office.

“Georgia’s firearms industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of investment in our communities,” Kemp said in a statement. “I am a proud owner of some of Remington’s first-class products, and now, I am excited to welcome them to their new home in the Peach State.”

In a statement, Remington CEO Ken D’Arcy said the company can’t wait to come to Georgia.

“We are very excited to come to Georgia, a state that not only welcomes business but enthusiastically supports and welcomes companies in the firearms industry,” he said.

The company will be hiring for positions in production, operations, engineering and management, as well as human resources, finance, and administration in Remington’s onsite executive offices. For more information, visit www.remarms.com.
