A video shared on Instagram by the NYPD showing an officer jumping onto the subway tracks in the Bronx to save someone has gone viral.

The video starts off by showing an individual lying motionless on the tracks when an NYPD Transit Bureau officer jumps to the rescue.

A Good Samaritan then jumps onto the tracks to help the officer get the individual to the platform, all of which happens moments prior to the train pulling up to the stop.

“NYPD cops help New Yorkers at any cost,” the video is captioned. “When a sick strap hanger lost consciousness and fell on the subway tracks in the Bronx, @nypdtransitbureau officers didn’t hesitate for a moment to put his safety ahead of their own. We’re also grateful to the Good Samaritan who courageously helped.”

The video has received over 200,000 views since it was posted on Thursday.

Many of the viewers have left comments praising the NYPD for their actions and good deeds.

“Thank God for the NYPD and all the men and women out there brave enough to put that badge on every day. Thank God for them,” one person wrote.

“This is amazing. This is what it’s about — saving lives. This should be all over the news. This NYPD cop has a good heart. Thank you,” wrote another Instagram user.

Other viewers also acknowledged the help of New Yorkers on the platform and the Good Samaritan.

“There’s still a lot of caring and loving cops and good people in this world,” wrote one Instagram user.

Another wrote: “Congratulations to both those heroes and for the folks on the platform for pulling them up! This is America together.”
