Texas Gov. Greg Abbott posted images of the Texas National Guard deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border on his Facebook account Thursday, writing that the Lone Star State continues to push back against the flow of illegal immigrants as President Joe Biden “does nothing.”

“Texas National Guard Soldiers deploy tactical vehicles to the border in support of Operation Lone Star,” Gov. Abbott’s post states. “As Biden does nothing, the Lone Star State continues to surge manpower & equipment to put an end to the chaos at our southern border.”

Gov. Abbott also posted his appearance on Fox News, writing in a separate Facebook post that “Texans ― & all Americans ― demand & deserve a secure southern border & the protection of our nation’s sovereignty.” The governor added that “we know Biden isn’t going to do it,” so Texas will “continue to take unprecedented action to secure the border.”

“Texas is providing $3 billion, by the State of Texas, to secure the southern border. And what we’re doing with that helps stop the flow of people coming across that dam that you see here in Del Rio. We put a steel barrier of patrol car after patrol car after patrol car, aided by National Guard vehicles, that were miles long,” Abbott said on Fox News. “And as the border patrol themselves articulated, as soon as the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard put that steel barrier of vehicles up across the border, that stopped anybody from crossing the border anymore.”

“We have a way of shutting it down and that is on top of what we’re doing with regard to arresting and jailing people who are coming across the border illegally,” Abbott continued. “We have by far the most aggressive approach of dealing with the border – definitely of any state – but candidly, when you add to the wall that we’re building in the state of Texas, we’re up there with what Trump was able to do with regard to securing the border and we’re getting very aggressive about our approach.”

On Monday, dozens of GOP governors demanded a meeting with President Biden over the “worst border crisis in more than two decades,” which they allege was created by the Biden administration. The group, led by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, said the surge at the border over the last year has created both a “national security crisis” and an “international humanitarian crisis.”

The letter asserts that the illegal immigrant crisis “that began at our southern border now extends beyond to every state.” Among those who signed onto the letter are Flordia Gov. Ron DeSantis, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
