A Gold Star mother whose Marine son was killed in the suicide bombing outside the Kabul airport last month during President Joe Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal invited former President Donald Trump this week to her son’s funeral, saying, “I love you and America loves you.”
On Sept. 2, Shana Chappell, mother to fallen Marine Kareem Nikoui, tagged Trump in a Facebook post, writing that she “would love if somehow my President (you Mr. Trump) could be present as I lay my Beautiful baby boy Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui to rest.”
“It would be such an honor to meet the real President of the United States of America, President Trump. I love you and America loves you,” she wrote. “Although Instagram has given me back my account, i am shadow banned so i am gonna need you all to share this for me in hopes it Gets to our President Trump.”
“Thank you all so much for honoring my son Kareem Nikoui ,thank you all for your love and support,” Chappell continued. “Thank you all for using your words and your accounts to get me my account back. Much love to you all! Stay strong! Now is the time we fight back and we don’t stop until we have our country back on her feet!”
Chappell included the hashtags #lionsnotsheep, #america, #landofthefree and #homeofthebrave in her post to former President Trump, adding that she is “watching what i post and say” in order to avoid losing her account again or being censored.
“I will be doing interviews soon but right now I’m [too] hurt and angry to do them,” she added.
In an emailed response to Chappell, Trump thanked her and said “our Country loves you and especially loves your beautiful boy, Kareem.” Trump did not say if he would attend Lance Cpl. Nikoui’s funeral, which is scheduled for Sept. 18 and open to the public.
“We have decided to have My beautiful son, Kareem Nikoui services public,” Chappell wrote in a separate post. “Thank you all for your love and support and Thank you for honoring our Heroes! You all have shown so much love and support. Thank you all so much. I love you all.”
Chappell had previously written that she blames President Biden for the loss of 13 U.S. troops in the August bombing in Kabul. She wrote on Facebook that “the blood of all 13 Heroes is on B!d3ns hands!!” referring to President Biden.
“Do not let their deaths be for nothing! It is time to rise up and make the changes our country needs!” she continued, adding, “My heart is destroyed! This pain is unbearable! [Joe Biden] remember who i am!!!!! Kareemy, you are my heart, my courage and my strength. Guide me into the right direction! I love you more than all the stars in the sky!”
