A DoorDash driver delivering an order from Chipotle to a Brooklyn police officer was seen in a video posted on social media burying in the meal a handwritten note that stated, “Hope that dik taste good bitch!”
According to the New York Post, the short clip was posted to Facebook on Monday with the caption: “Ya kno I’m bout to violate the s–t out this order 61st precient. I dreamed of moments like this.”
“god u been so good to me like idk how to re pay u,” it continued.
In the video, viewers can see a screenshot of the DoorDash app that shows instructions to take the order to the station on Coney Island Avenue in Sheepshead Bay.
The Post reported that police sources were unsure if the cop who received the meal started eating before realizing it had been contaminated. The incident is under investigation.
A DoorDash spokeswoman confirmed the driver, who was not publicly identified, has been removed.
“This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and has no place in our community,” the spokeswoman said. “We take the trust and respect of merchants, customers, and Dashers extremely seriously. We have deactivated the Dasher and have reached out to the customer involved.”
Chipotles’ chief corporate affairs officer, Lauri Schalow, also said in a statement that “the actions displayed by this third-party delivery driver are inexcusable, and we’ve ensured our delivery partner has deactivated the individual’s account.”
Both customers and delivery drivers condemned the rogue employee’s actions.
“That’s terrible,” said Secundino Melendez, 48, who delivers for DoorDash. “You don’t play with people’s food. That’s one thing you don’t do.
“Nobody should have to go through that,” he continued. “They should be able to open up their food and have no worries, but you know how this world is. This is a crazy f–king world.”
A second DoorDash delivery driver said she was concerned the incident would give good drivers a bad name and negatively impact their ability to earn a living.
“I’m glad he got fired, whoever he is,” the driver identified as Debra said. “It makes it bad for us — then we’ll be out of work, and a lot of us rely on this job to pay our bills and feed our families. When one person spoils it, it spoils it for everyone else.”
Antoinella Acosta, a DoorDash customer, called the driver’s actions “disgusting.”
“It’s disgusting. People need to be a little bit less biased,” Acosta said. “It’s horrible, but it’s New York. Nothing ever surprises you in New York anymore.”
