A man was killed and a girl injured in a home invasion Wednesday night after two men burst into a Milton Drive home and began shooting, Fayetteville police said.
The male resident returned fire, according to lawmen, and some time later a second man with a fatal gunshot wound was dropped off at hospital in a neighboring county.
It was not immediately known if the home invasion and hospital deaths were related, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.
The home invasion was reported at 8:05 p.m. in the 6300 block of Milton Drive in the Arran Hills neigh.
When officers arrived they found a man dead and a juvenile girl injured. The girl was taken to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, the release said.
More than an hour later, according to recorded police radio traffic, another adult male with a gunshot wound was dropped off in cardiac arrest at a hospital in a neighboring county. He ultimately died, the release said. The person who dropped him off left the hospital after doing so, the radio traffic indicates.
