An unhinged man casually tapped a 60-year-old woman on the shoulder, then slashed her across the face in an unprovoked attack in the Bronx, police said.

The woman was walking down E. Tremont Ave. near Van Nest Ave. around 4:30 p.m. Thursday when the suspect approached her from behind, cops said.

The man tapped the woman on the shoulder to get her attention. When she turned, he silently brought the blade down on her forehead and eyes, and ran off.

The suspect was last seen heading to a grey Honda Civic with a dent on front passenger side.

Medics took the woman to Jacobi Medical Center to be treated.

Police on Saturday released images of the suspect’s getaway vehicle in the hopes that someone recognizes it. The attacker was described as a Black man, about 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds.

Anyone with information is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
