Even before polls opened this morning for the final day of early voting, Texans had already cast more ballots in the 2020 election than were cast during the entire 2016 general election.

More than 9 million Texans had voted by Thursday night, including 8 million who went to an early voting site, with the remainder mailing or dropping off their ballots.

That represents 53.1% of all registered voters in the state.

Turnout in the last presidential election was 8,969,226, or 59.4% of voters.

Election Day is Tuesday.
