President Donald Trump released the entire unedited clip of his interview with Lesley Stahl of “60 Minutes” and accused the anchor of “bias, hatred and rudeness.”
The 37-minute clip starts at the beginning of the interview from a behind-the-scenes perspective as Stahl hits Trump with tough questions from the COVID-19 pandemic, to the Hunter Biden scandal, China, the economy, fake news, and more.
Throughout the interview, Stahl repeatedly pushed back on Trump’s claims, insisting that his remarks were untrue. The first of such exchanges took place when Trump boasted over creating “the greatest economy in the history of our country.”
“You know that’s not true,” Stahl said.
“It is totally true — best unemployment numbers, best employment numbers, 160 million people working, highest stock market price,” Trump said, adding, “You would never say that to Biden.”
“I wish you would interview Joe Biden like you interview me. It would be so good,” Trump added.
Trump went on to point out that the media is easier on Biden, that instead of asking tough questions about his involvement in scandals, they asked about his flavor of ice cream when seeing him in public with an ice cream cone.
“He’s in the midst of a scandal,” Trump said.
“He is not,” Stahl said.
“You’re like big tech. You’re protecting him,” Trump said.
Stahl said Trump is making the Hunter Biden laptop story “one of the hottest, most important issues.”
“It’s a very important issue to find out whether or not a man is corrupt who’s running for president, who’s accepted money from China, and from Ukraine, and from Russia,” Trump said.
“All these things have been investigated and discredited,” Stahl said, along with repeatedly interjecting “no” to Trump’s claims.
“He accepted money – his family – from Russia, from Ukraine, from China, and from other places. His brother, who didn’t have any experience, became a big builder in Iraq without experience,” Trump said. “Take a look at what’s going on, Lesley. And then you say that shouldn’t be discussed? It’s the biggest scandal out there … it’s one of the biggest scandals I’ve ever seen.”
Trump called the Hunter Biden scandal the “second-biggest scandal” behind the Obama administration spying on his campaign.
“There’s no real evidence of that,” Stahl said of the spying. “This is 60 Minutes. We can’t put on things we can’t verify.”
“Lesley, they spied on my campaign. It’s been totally verified. Just go down and get the paper,” he said, while Stahl repeatedly countered with “no.” Trump added, “Then they went much further than that and they got caught. And you will see that, Lesley, and you know that — you just don’t want to put it on the air.”
When asked who America’s biggest foreign adversary is, Trump pointed to China. “They’re a competitor. They’re a foe in many ways, but they’re an adversary,” Trump said, adding that China is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.
