President Trump to hold rally in Florida ten days after he was hospitalized with coronavirus

Next week, President Donald Trump, fresh off a bout with the coronavirus, will hit the campaign trail once again. And he’ll do it in Florida.

Trump will speak at a campaign rally in Sanford on Monday at 7 p.m. — his first traveling campaign event since he started showing serious coronavirus symptoms earlier this month.

The appearance comes during the crucial stretch run of the 2020 presidential race. Trump had to cancel a rally in Sanford slated for Oct. 2 after he tested positive for the novel virus.

It’s still unclear when the president last tested negative for the virus, which has spread through his White House in recent weeks, infecting several top government officials. Trump’s campaign has repeatedly declined to offer a clear timeline of the president’s illness. It remains unclear, for example, when the president last tested negative for the disease — or whether he is negative now.

First Lady Melania Trump also tested positive for the disease earlier this month.

The president’s infection appeared to be serious: he was treated with supplemental oxygen in the days after his hospitalization, and he was given at least one experimental drug cocktail.

Trump’s doctor, Sean Conley, says the treatments appear to have worked. Conley wrote in a memo Thursday that the president’s vital signs looked healthy, and that he’s “responded extremely well to treatment.”

“Saturday will be day 10 since Thursday’s diagnosis, and based on the trajectory of advanced diagnostics the team has been conducting, I fully anticipate the President’s safe return to public engagements at that time,” Conley wrote.
