A Border Patrol agent was stabbed multiple times before he fatally shot the suspect an hour outside of Tucson Monday night.
The agent, who has not been publicly identified, was patrolling east of Nogales, Ariz., along the U.S.-Mexico border, when he tried to arrest a group of suspected immigrants, according to the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector.
During the attempted arrest, one of the suspects allegedly stabbed the agent multiple times.
The agent shot and killed the suspect, who has also not been publicly identified.
Officials said the agent was flown to a local hospital and has since been released.
