45 shot, 10 killed in deadly Chicago weekend

45 people were shot and 10 were killed between Friday night and Monday morning, in Chicago, Ill., according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The first victim killed by gunfire in the city over the weekend was 24-year-old Isaiah Armstrong, who was found by authorities with a gunshot wound to the head and around 5:40 p.m. on Friday in the 8400 block of South Escanaba Avenue. Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Less than 5 hours later, a 27-year-old was found in a parked vehicle at about 10:05 p.m. in the 5700-block of West Midway Park, with gunshot wounds in the chest and face, according to police. According to ABC 7 Chicago, a male suspect was reportedly seen walking up to the victim’s vehicle before firing several shots. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene and no one is in custody following the shooting.

30-year-old Sharn Green was also shot in the head and chest at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 1300 block of South Avers Avenue, according to authorities. He was reportedly taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died.

Around half an hour later on Saturday, at around 5 p.m., 44-year-old Darrell Rushing was shot multiple times near the 6900 block of South Claremont Avenue. He was taken to the Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead. Three other men were also shot during the incident. A 38-year-old man was hospitalized in stable condition after being struck in the ankle. A 23-year-old man was shot in the back, a 39-year-old woman was shot in the calf, and both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and stabilized.

On Sunday, 39-year-old Anthony Lash Jackson was killed in a shooting at around 3:10 a.m. Sunday morning in the 7900 block of South South Chicago Avenue. A male suspect reportedly shot Jackson in the neck and he was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.

At around 9:50 a.m., 46-year-old Myrio Shields was fatally shot in the 3900 block of West Roosevelt Road. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

21-year-old Devion Davis was fatally shot at around 1:05 p.m. in Lithuanian Plaza in the 6900 block of South Campbell Avenue. Davis was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died, according to police.

On Monday, a 29-year-old man was parking his vehicle about 1:40 a.m. in the 3200 block of North Nagle Avenue when police said someone in a white sedan fired multiple shots striking the man. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

About half an hour later, at around 2:13 a.m., a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 3400 block of West Carmen Avenue when someone fired multiple shots. The 25-year-old sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his head while a 24-year-old was shot in the back and right hand. The pair was able to drive to Swedish Covenant Hospital where the 25-year-old was pronounced dead and the 24-year-old was hospitalized in fair condition.

The final fatal shooting for the weekend also saw the youngest fatal victim, a 17-year-old boy. The boy was standing in an alley in the 6400 block of North Hamilton Avenue at around 2:50 a.m. when someone fired shots, according to police. He was hit in the back and taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he died.

A 16-year was also shot at around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday morning and hospitalized in critical condition.

The deadly Chicago weekend comes a week after another 54 people were shot and 12 were killed the weekend prior.
