A former Fort Bragg soldier was sentenced in federal court Thursday to two years in prison and ordered to pay $250,000 in restitution for stealing from the Army, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Bryan Allen, 35, of Louisiana, used in position as a property book officer with the 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, at Fort Bragg to steal items. Allen covered the theft by decreasing the electronic inventory, which reduced the number of items expected in the physical inventory, according to a news release.

Allen was sentenced by Chief U.S. Judge Terrence W. Boyle.

According to court documents, Allen forged the signature of another soldier to cover up the theft. The stolen property included 43 enhanced night vision goggles, a U.S. military-sensitive item made to military specifications, which required demilitarization and destruction in accordance with Department of Defense policies.
