Six U.S. paratroopers and one German firefighters were injured in a training accident Wednesday, the military said.
The soldiers drifted off course and landed in some trees, Stars and Stripes reported. The firefighter, 62, was part of the German emergency response and was injured when a paratrooper fell out of one of the trees.
The six paratroopers were members of the 173rd Airborne Division, according to the Associated Press. They were conducting the training exercise at Grafenwoehr training area in eastern Germany.
Three of the injured soldiers had already returned to their units Thursday, the AP reported. Three others remained hospitalized, but their injuries were not severe.
The firefighters sustained head injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, but he was in intensive care Thursday, according to Stars and Stripes.
The Army is investigating the accident.
