Two Oklahoma cops have been charged with second-degree after they repeatedly used a Taser on a 28-year-old man who died a year ago, authorities said Thursday.
Brandon Dingman, 34, and Joshua Taylor, 25, both of the Wilson Police Department, were responding to a disorderly conduct call when they used their stun guns on Jared Lakey on Independence Day last year, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
Lakey stopped breathing and was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital where he died on July 6, authorities said.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said it investigated the incident and turned in a report Carter County Sheriff’s Office before the charged were filed this week.
Both police officers were released on $250,000 bond.
Wilson is located in southern Oklahoma near the Texas border.
