The Kremlin says U.S. President Donald Trump has said he will not attend the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Moscow on March 10 that it was not clear who would represent the United States at the event.

“We have been informed via diplomatic channels that President [Trump] will not attend,” Peskov said.

He did not elaborate.

A military parade for the occasion will be held in Moscow on May 9.

Moscow said earlier that along with Trump, the Kremlin had also invited British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and officials from other nations.
