McConnell Air Force Base near Wichita has identified its first confirmed case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
The patient is an active-duty airman assigned to McConnell, Air Force officials with the 22nd Air Refueling Wing said in a news release. The patient tested positive for the coronavirus and is being evaluated and treated in isolation at an off-base home.
Military officials did not provide additional information about the patient.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported that as of Monday morning, 368 patients have tested positive in the state, with 49 of those in Sedgwick County. Eight deaths have been reported in Kansas, one of which was in Sedgwick County.
