Newly released surveillance camera footage captured a fight between a would-be robber and his elderly victim who fought back.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Feb. 5 in the U.K. according to the South Wales Police, who released the surveillance video. The 77-year-old man had parked his car near a store front and was taking cash from an ATM when a masked white male approached him demanding his money and his bank card.
The attacker could be seen wearing a hat, mask and a yellow safety jacket and was wearing a backpack.
In the video the masked man could be seen shoving the older man as he walked away from the ATM. The 77-year-old man, not to be victimized, began bouncing on his feet and jabbing at the attacker. After a brief series of jabs by the older man and a couple of attempted low blows by the attacker, the would-be robber eventually turned and walked away.
“The victim bravely fought off the suspect who made off empty-handed towards the path leading to Colchester Avenue,” the South Wales Police department said in their description of the video.
