Joe Biden says ‘no one needs AR-15s; weapons of war’

Democrat presidential contender Joe Biden declared on Saturday that AR-15s are “weapons of war” that no citizen should have.

“No one needs an AR-15. Period. We have to get these weapons of war out of our communities,” Biden tweeted on Saturday.

The comments are the latest among his anti-gun rhetoric as he has made gun control among the top priorities of his campaign.

Biden also made a series of anti-gun remarks last week while campaigning in New Hampshire.

While speaking about what he believes to be “rational policy” on guns, Biden remarked that people should not be allowed to have “clips in a weapon.”

“We’re unwilling to have a rational policy that says you cannot have 20, 30, 40, 50 clips in a weapon,” Biden said during a discussion on active shooter drills in schools.

Biden also implied that it is futile for gun owners to expect to face off against a tyrannical government with a rifle when the government has fighter jets and missiles in their arsenal.

“Those who say, ‘The tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots’ – a great line, well, guess what: The fact is, if you’re going to take on the government, you need an F-15 with Hellfire Missiles. There is no way an AK-47 is going to take care of you if you’re worried about the government knocking down your door,” Biden said.

“It’s bizarre; we never said you could own any weapon at all from the beginning,” Biden continued. “You can’t own a machine gun. You can’t own a bazooka. You can’t own an M1 tank, no matter how much money you have.”

Biden also went on to claim that NRA members support assault weapon bans.

“I now have over 58% of the NRA members acknowledging that you cannot own an assault weapon. There is no need for it. You can’t have a magazine that is more than 10 rounds in it,” Biden said.
