The death toll has risen in China as the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak which has now reached more than 1,300 confirmed cases.

Chinese government authorities have place travel restrictions on more than 17 cities in the Hubei province where the outbreak first began, according to The Telegraph. With those travel restrictions, 56 million people are effectively on lock down as they wait for the news on how the virus will be handled.

In its efforts to prevent being overwhelmed by the disease’ spread, China is reportedly racing to construct a new 1,000 bed hospital in a matter of days.

The death toll from the coronavirus has also risen to 41. On Friday, the death toll was only reported at 26 and fears have begun to emerge that the Chinese government has been overwhelmed by this virus outbreak.

Cases of coronavirus quickly spread to  Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. Three cases have now been reported in France.

Two cases of coronavirus have also been confirmed in the U.S. within the last week.
