A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit under the sea between Jamaica and Cuba Tuesday afternoon, setting off a Tsunami warning system.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) detected the undersea earthquake in the Caribbean, south of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica just after 2 p.m. local time.

The International Tsunami Information Center (ITIC) issued a Tsunami warning following the earthquake.

“Hazardous tsunami waves from this earthquake are possible within 300 km of the epicenter along the coasts of Jamaica… Cayman Islands and Cuba,” the ITIC warning said, according to a report by CNBC.

The earthquake was being felt as far away as Miami, Florida and buildings were reportedly being evacuated in response.
