Officials arrested an armed suspect at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi on Wednesday morning.
At 7:42 a.m. CST, the base had posted a warning to social media, saying, “THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Shelter in place. Base on lockdown,” adding a few minutes later that a suspect was in custody.
The lockdown was later lifted, and the base confirmed “no shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.”
The suspect was reportedly found near a depot building.
Public Affairs Officer Francoise “Fifi” Kieschnick told USA Today that the suspect was near “building 8” on base.
Nearby Texas A&M University Corpus Christi was also temporarily placed on lockdown and later cleared, NBC News reported.
