A rogue runaway vehicle wreaked havoc at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport Monday, spiraling out of control and nearly crashing into a plane parked at the gate.
A video of the incident shows a cartoperated by airline catering company Gate Gourmet swinging in circles at high speed, despite having no one behind the wheel. Several employees watch from the sidelines as the vehicle careens closer and closer to a nearby American Airlines plane.

Before it collides, however, a worker drives a second vehicle into the cart, slamming the wayward machine on its side and thus ending the chaos.
“American Airlines is investigating an incident involving a catering truck this afternoon at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport,” American spokesperson Ross Feinstein said in a statement to USA TODAY. “Preliminary reports indicate that the accelerator became stuck and caused the catering cart to lose control.”
Feinstein said no one was injured, and applauded the employee whose quick action stopped the vehicle before it crashed into the nearby Embraer 145 regional jet operated by American Eagle.
The spectacle seems to have been captured by someone inside the terminal who filmed through a window. The footage has made the rounds on Twitter, garnering over 55,000 likes and 14,000 retweets thus far.
And the memes have already taken off, too
