A U.S. Air Force F-16 jet has crashed near Zemmer, Germany on Tuesday during a training run, the Air Force said in a statement.
The jet was part of the 480th Fighter Squadron, 52nd Fighter Wing based at Spangdahlem Air Base.
The pilot ejected safely and was taken to the hospital, according to a German police statement.

The Air Force said,” First responders are responding to the incident at this time,” adding that the incident will be investigated by a board of officers.
The cause of the accident is unclear at this time.

The aircraft crashed in an uninhabited area. German police have closed some surrounding roads and are asking the public to stay away from the area.
German public broadcaster SWR said that large amounts of jet fuel had spilled in the accident, as Reuters reported.
