Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard shredded Hillary Clinton in a blistering Twitter attack Friday, calling the former secretary of state “the queen of warmongers” and a “personification” of the Democratic Party’s “rot.”
Gabbard, whose 2020 bid has consistently languished in the polls, unleashed the social media spree in response to a Thursday interview, in which Clinton ripped the Hawaii lawmaker as Russia’s “favorite” while suggesting Republicans are “grooming” her to launch a third-party bid to sabotage the eventual Democratic presidential nominee.
“Great! Thank you,” Gabbard tweeted sardonically at Clinton. “You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain.”

The 38-year-old Democrat, who has long been accused of cozying up to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad, claimed she’s been subjected to “a concerted campaign” aimed at destroying her reputation.
“We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose,” Gabbard posted.

She urged Clinton to join the 2020 race.
“It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me,” Gabbard continued. “Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.”

Nick Merrill, a spokesman for Clinton, suggested Gabbard’s counter-punch proved Clinton’s initial point.
“Divisive language filled with vitriol and conspiracy theories? Can’t imagine a better proof point than this” that Gabbard is ‘a third party spoiler’ adored by the Russians,” Merrill told the Daily News.
During an interview on former Obama adviser David Plouffe’s podcast Thursday, Clinton cited reports showing the Russian government is already unleashing an army of social media bots to back Gabbard, who’s running on a platform of reigning in U.S. military involvement overseas.
“She’s the favorite of the Russians,” Clinton said. “They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”
Clinton also speculated Republicans are “grooming” Gabbard to mount a third-party bid that would end up siphoning away votes from the Democratic nominee who will take on Trump in 2020.
“I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate,” Clinton said of Gabbard.
Gabbard has stoked controversy for defending Assad despite his lengthy record of human rights abuses. She even met with the brutal, Russian-backed strongman during a covert trip to Syria in 2017.
Gabbard has struggled to make a splash in the crammed 2020 race.
Her Twitterspree taking aim at Clinton gained plenty of applause from prominent Trump backers.
“I genuinely respect Tulsi,” tweeted former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. “Not my brand of soap, as I support pro-life candidates, but she’s her own person and a thoughtful patriot…Why are the Dems so afraid of Tulsi?”
I genuinely respect @Tulsi. Not my brand of soap, as I support pro-life candidates, but she’s her own person and a thoughtful patriot. For Hillary to allege @TulsiGabbard is a “Russian asset” is stunning and disgusting. Why are the Dems so afraid of @TulsiGabbard ? https://t.co/4bB7iqvHBw
